Glossary: Magnification

Fractal Images can be magnified endlessly, always revealing more detail around their edges. The Mandelbrot Set and the Julia Sets are no exception to this.

When you have magnified a Fractal several times, Mandelbrot Explorer will tell you the Magnification of the image you are viewing. This is defined as the number of times you could fit your magnified image along the bottom of the parent Fractal (or down one side – whichever gives the greater number), when that parent Fractal is displayed at a resolution of 200×200.
